Week 3

Something fun that I got to do this week was help design the new basketball uniforms for next year. Catlin orders new uniforms every four years and the old ones are passed down to JV. It was interesting to talk to Kate about what new gear we want to prioritize with our budget since it is not plausible to order new uniforms, practice jerseys, travel sweats, and shooting shirts all at once. I helped Kate and Tyler decide on the style of the new uniforms and I realized how many small details there are to pay attention to, such as the font of the lettering. It is exciting to be a part of these decisions that Kate and Tyler have to make every now and then!

This week I also helped with restocking the medkits, making sure that all the materials were there, and getting rid of all the trash. During my senior project, I have really learned that the athletic director's job is not just scheduling and watching over sports events, but there is so much admin work that goes on behind the scenes. Aside from the medkits, there is also a lot of billing that Kate has to do, like charging schools after hosting a track meet and charging students who purchase gear for a sports team. Below is a photo of the medkits I was restocking.

I have been pretty successful in meeting my goals that I set in the first blog post since I ordered my senior night t-shirts and finished the athletic slideshow and have been doing new tasks every day I am here at Catlin. It is fun to be doing this during the basketball season since I also get to help set up the gym before games.

Lastly, we have been planning a signing day for students in my class who are going to play a sport in college. This will be a day to recognize them and an opportunity to take photos at a table with their college's logo. I have been working on creating certificates for each student so they have something to "sign" for fun. I don't have any questions left after this week and I am excited to see what the last week of senior projects brings!
